ARCHIVED 2022-24 Year 2 Blog

In music today Year 2 enjoyed thinking about tempo which is the speed of music. We tried moving to the beat of a drum which was moving fast and slow, we also listened to sections of music from Finlandia by Sibelius and tried moving to the correct speed for these sections which was lots of fun!

We welcomed in Tony Peek a poet today to tell us all about his work and his poetry. He lead an assembly reading us some of his very silly poems which made us laugh! We then had a workshop in which we joined in with some poems before learning about alliteration and trying to create some alliterative sentences of their own.

The children all had a fantastic time visiting Dinosaur Isle. We started the day walking to Yaverland beach to hunt for fossils. We then headed back for lunch with all our finds. During the afternoon, both classes had a talk from a dinosaur expert and we looked at lots of interesting fossils. We also explored the dinosaur museum before heading home.
