We were really lucky this week to welcome in Mr Stroud who comes in to teach brass instruments in school. He brought in some instruments to show Willow class and they even got to have a go at playing some! It wasn’t as easy as it looked! Chestnut class will hopefully have a go next week.

English Have you seen the dragon?

We had a letter today to let us know that a friendly dragon had escaped from a zoo in London. We were told that he could be hiding somewhere around the school! We decided to make some warning posters to let people know to be on the lookout!

English

In English this week we are going to be writing our own versions of the story of Little Red Riding Hood. We started today by sequencing pictures for the story so that we know it really well. We then made stick puppets and practised retelling the south with our partners using the stick puppets.

Design Technology

Well done year 2 for reaching the end of week 2! Everyone is settling in really well and working hard. We started our new unit in Design Technology today looking at puppets. We looked at lots of different puppets including finger puppets, hand puppets, stick puppets and marionettes. We chose our favourite and drew it as well as looking at what it was made from and how it moved.

Maths

In maths this week we have been looking at partitioning (splitting) numbers in different ways. Today we looked at partitioning the same number into different amounts of tens and ones. The children enjoyed writing on the table (!) to partition their numbers using base 10.
