Art gallery

Image
Last week in art we were finally able to put together our finished paintings! We set up an art gallery in the classroom and walked around looking at the finished pieces, discussing what we liked about each one. We then stuck our own pieces in our books with the original for comparison and then wrote our own notes about what went well, what we had used and what we could improve. In art school this whole process is called a crit.

To finish of our work on colour and form we had a go at working collaboratively to  create an abstract version of a fire painting. We each had a strip of a painting to study carefully and then had a go at recreating it. When they have dried we will put the finished strips together to make a whole piece.

Computing

In computing we have been looking at pictograms. Today we made our own tally charts looking at the colours of the cars in the car park. We then made our own pictograms on the computers.

The Great Fire of London

We welcomed in a very special guest to Year 2 today. Thomas Bludworth, the Mayor of London during the Great Fire of London came to visit us to tell us all about the Great Fire of London. He told us about the events of the fire, showing us some interesting artefacts and talking about his part in the story of the Great Fire of London. He also told us lots about the effect of the fire on London and how it improved London.
