Maths Lo: to draw symmetrical shapes
In Maths we have been looking at symmetry and symmetrical shapes. Today we had a go at drawing the other half of symmetrical shapes- it was quite tricky practising our maths and ruler skills together!

Maths L.O. I can find and identify lines of symmetry on 2D shapes.
Today we looked at a variety of different shapes. We had to decide which shapes had a line of symmetry and also draw some lines of symmetry on a mixture of shapes. Some of us cut the shapes out and folded them to see if the shapes had lines of symmetry.

This week we have been learning all about shape. On Thursday we had to use a ruler and pencil and draw different shapes in our books.

On Thursday we used Base 10 and number lines to help us answer some addition and subtraction questions.
Maths Lo: to add across ten.
In maths this week we have been looking at addition of two digit numbers. Our small steps have been building up to todays lesson which was adding across ten or bridging ten. This is one of the trickiest concepts in year 2 maths and the children did really well, using base 10 to help them, exchanging ones for tens.
Maths Lo: to place numbers on a number line
This week in maths we have been looking at number lines. We have talked about looking at the intervals on a number line and how much they are worth. We have looked at placing 1s and 10s in a number line and then estimating numbers on a number line.
Maths Lo: to partition numbers in different ways.
In maths we have been learning how to partition numbers in different ways. Today we used base 10 to make a number and then partition it in different ways eg 83 could be partitioned into 80 and 3 or 70 and 13. We then had a go at writing these numbers on a part whole model.
