Year 2 Blog

 In music this half term we have been looking at exploring sounds through the theme of weather. Today we looked at the story of The Wind and the Sun and worked in groups to compose some sound effects to go with each section of the story thinking about what each section of the story showed. We then put the sections together to tell the whole story. 

 During RE day today we have thought about the idea of change. We listened to the story of the perfect square and how he changed and had a go at changing our own square of paper into something else! We talked about the kind of changes that we might experience and whether change is good or bad. We talked about how change can be good but also might be sad or scary. We then thought about how Christians believe that people changed when they met Jesus. We listened to some stories about how Christians believe that Jesus changed people and the miracles he performed. 

 In English today we were learning about suffixes. We learnt that a suffix is added to the end of a word to make a brand new word. We used word cards to move around the suffixes and create new words. 

 In English this week we have been learning about subordinating conjunctions. We learnt about the conjunctions until, although and if and learnt that these can be used at the beginning of sentences or in the middle of sentences. We had a go at using these conjunctions by putting parts of sentences together and moving them around to make new sentences including these conjunctions.
