All the children in year 2 have come back to school really positively after half term. We have started a new English unit based on the book Leo and the Octopus and started by thinking about how we are all unique and about how we all have the same feelings but show these in different ways. We created this is me posters explaining how we show our feelings in different ways.
English Lo: to perform poetry
Inspired by our visit from the poet Tony Peek, earlier in the week, we have started looking at some poetry in our English lessons. We thought about what poems are and listened to some performances of some famous poems including Macavity the mystery cat, Life doesn’t frighten me at all by Maya Angelou and From a railway carriage by Robert Louis Stevenson. We then had a go at practising reading and performing some of these poems before learning a little bit of Please Mrs Butler by Allan Ahlberg off by heart.
