Big Phonics! This week have been learning about the different graphemes that make the ‘l’ sound.
We had lots of fun playing different games to practise reading and writing words with ‘le’, ‘el’ and ‘al’ in them.
English Lo: to perform poetry
Inspired by our visit from the poet Tony Peek, earlier in the week, we have started looking at some poetry in our English lessons. We thought about what poems are and listened to some performances of some famous poems including Macavity the mystery cat, Life doesn’t frighten me at all by Maya Angelou and From a railway carriage by Robert Louis Stevenson. We then had a go at practising reading and performing some of these poems before learning a little bit of Please Mrs Butler by Allan Ahlberg off by heart.
