Science - what are microhabitats?

 Today, Yaverland began to look at habitats, exploring habitats (and learning about the microhabitats) in our school. We identified seven microhabitats in our meadow;

- short grass

- long grass and flowers

- soil (in and on)

- under stones and rocks (rubble)

- under logs

- in hedgerows

- under and inside the bark of tree stumps

We then began to collect data, using our observation skills to identify life, learning how to record data in a table, in the form of a tally chart. We look forward to learning different ways to display this data pictorally next week.
