As part of our work on wheels and axles today we investigated different ways of creating the chassis of our vehicles. We looked at different boxes and bottles and then created designs for different vehicles.

Music
To finish off our focused study on the piece of music Finlandia by Sibelius this week we had a go at composing our own pieces. Just like Sibelius wrote about his favourite country we wrote pieces about our favourite things at school. We wrote down our compositions using graphic notation.
Re
For Re day this half term we looked at the idea of God. We thought about what people think God might look like and created paintings of our thoughts. We then talked about what Christians believe God is like and the word that they use to describe God by looking at some hymns and also reading the stories of David and Goliath and Daniel and the lions. We then looked at the idea of God in the Hindu religion, we thought about their idea of God being a bit like a mum and dad - there is only one god but that god has many different versions and identities.
Geography
In geography last week we were comparing the city in Jamaica with the countryside in Jamaica. We watched some videos showing what the city and countryside are like. We then compared what they are like looking at the differences. Finally we talked about some different fruit and vegetables that are grown in Jamaica and tried to identify them.
No outsiders
In our no outsiders PSHE lesson this week we looked at the story of Mr Jackdaw. In the story Mr Jackdaw meets lots of animals who he can’t communicate with. In the end he discovers that he can use sign language to communicate with others. We talked about being deaf and learnt some sign language ourselves.
